Harrison believes Jones faces a wait to establish themselves at centre-half.
He told the Manchester Evening News: “Jones is only going to get better. He’s tough as old boots, he’s fit, determined, can defend and he’s as brave as a lion. He never shirks his responsibilities.
“He sticks his head in, he tackles. That’s the basis of a good defender – can you win the ball? He certainly can.
“But he must be a nightmare to play against in midfield as well because he’s like a rash. He’s all over you.
“I prefer him as a defender though. He could play there for the next 10 years. Both him and Smalling are super lads.”
