Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper admits he wants to see new signings made this summer.
United's longest-serving player admits he has not discussed the financial situation with anyone at the club, but he is unequivocal in his belief that improvements need to be made.
"It is a no brainer really," Harper told The Journal. "We have to bring players in this summer. We need them.
"You can't go from the Championship to the Premier League without strengthening the squad. I'm sure the manager is trying to get the players we need and hopefully we'll have some new faces in by the time we play our first top-flight game.
"I don't know what the financial situation is, but as I understand it we are trying to bring in new players and that is vital if we are going to hold our own next season."
