Steve Harper hopes Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear can add more Premiership experience before the transfer deadline falls today.

Commenting on the arrival of former Bolton captain Kevin Nolan, the Toon goalkeeper said: "He is a fantastic signing - a proven Premier League player, which is what we need.

"Maybe in recent years we haven't gone down that road which, given the situation we're in, is the way we need to go."
