Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper is confident the summer market will soon crank up.
Toon boss Chris Hughton has expressed confidence that he will get the players he is after in the transfer window and Harper does not believe the lack of activity so far is anything to worry about in a World Cup year.
He told The Journal: "It's always the same when there is a major championship on. You always expect things to happen straight away, but it doesn't work like that. There will be a few bargains to be had from the World Cup and everybody will be waiting to see if they can spot one. Then there is the fact everyone in football is either distracted by the tournament or on holiday.
"What tends to happen is, the teams come back for the start of pre-season training and managers assess what they have got, what they need and what they want to get rid of.
"I'm sure that will be the case this summer. It tends to snowball from the start of July onwards and I hope that proves to be the case at Newcastle. Nobody has done much business so far and it should all start to speed up a bit in three weeks time when the players start to filter back to their clubs."
