After playing against Peterborough yesterday, Manchester United midfield signing Owen Hargreaves is confident of being available for the opening Premiership round against Reading next weekend.

"I am looking forward to playing 60 minutes in Scotland on Wednesday," Hargreaves told MUTV. "I hope to be ready for the first game of the season against Reading."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was also happy to see Hargreaves make his first appearance in a United shirt.

The Red Devils boss said: "It was good to see Owen back.

"He would have played the first half if we had not been delayed, but I put him on in the second half so he could warm up first."
