Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has responded to Sir Alex Ferguson over criticism in his autobiography.
Asked about his former manager's thoughts in the build up to the Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Arsenal live on BT Sport, the 32-year-old offered a considered response.
"I think he was very disappointed obviously the way things turned out but I think our first season we were very successful" said Hargreaves.
"The reason he brought me over was for me to help Manchester United win the Champions League and we were able to do that and I was able to play a big part - 35 games.
"And after the treatment I had in the summer, I virtually never played again."
And Hargreaves, who made only 39 appearances in four seasons at Old Trafford, added that he is disappointed with how his time with the club went and that it is a conversation perhaps he and Ferguson need to have personally.
"I had such a great time at Bayern Munich and I had been very successful, but the only reason I left was to play for Manchester United and it was a privilege to play there and as I said, I played one year and we won the league and Champions League.
"For it to deteriorate like that [with the injury problems] was obviously very disappointing and I think it's a conversation he and I need to have personally."
