Hannover skipper Cherundolo still battling knee issues

Steve Cherundolo's absence from the Hannover 96 line-up has continued after he missed the weekend's meeting with Werder Bremen.

The 34-year old American right-back has failed to make an appearance this season after undergoing three bouts of surgery on his left knee in the last 12 months.

Cherundolo had returned to training last week but Hannover's press officer Alex Jacob told MLSsoccer.com that he wouldn't have been available for the Bremen fixture which Die Roten lost 3-2.

"Steve can't work actually with the team, he has an individualized program in these days," Jacob said. "So he can't play at Sunday in Bremen."

The defeat, their fourth in five games, left Hannover sitting 11th on the Bundesliga table after 11 matches.
