Hangeland: Magath has brought German discipline to Fulham

Fulham captain Brede Hangeland has labelled new manager Felix Magath as a very strict boss.

The German became the Cottagers' third gaffer of the season when he replaced Rene Meulensteen in February and has brought with him a fairly stern style in a bid to keep the west London club in the Premier League.

Fulham remain on the bottom of the table but the weekend's 1-0 win over Newcastle United has given them impetus for the rest of the campaign with a much stronger mindset according to Hangeland.

"He is a tough coach, fairly strict," the Norwegian centre-half told VG of Magath.

"It is quite different to what you are used to in an English club. If it works, it's great.

"We train substantially tougher, we train more and have less free time. It's more German discipline."

Fulham, who are four points from safety, travel to title pursuers Manchester City this weekend as they continue their quest for survival.
