Hamilton snap up ex-Swansea, Wigan striker Scotland

Scottish Championship club Hamilton Academical have confirmed the signing of striker Jason Scotland.

The 34-year old former Trinidad & Tobago international has been snapped up by the Accies on a free transfer after he was released by English side Barnsley.

The former Dundee United, St Johnstone, Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town forward brings him with to New Douglas Park a plethora of experience in the UK which was something chairman Les Gray took into account when attempting to lure him to South Lanarkshire.

"I have been chasing this player all month and we have been working away in the background on it," he told the club's official website.

"There were a few other clubs in Scotland keen to sign him but we were on the ball at all times in monitoring his situation.

"The player is an established goalscorer with a good pedigree in Scotland, England and Wales, and has commanded transfer fees in excess of £2m."
