Hamilton to escape censure over coin throwing incident

Hamilton do not expect to face action over the incident in which Rangers defender David Weir was struck by a five-pence coin. Accies apologised to Rangers and appealed to their fans for information, vowing to look through CCTV footage to identify the culprit.

Hamilton secretary Scott Struthers claimed the incident was now closed.

Struthers said: "It has not been mentioned in any report. The match delegate has not reported it, the police have not reported it. Rangers have not complained.

"The matter has been dealt with."
