Hamilton boss Reid upset at fans abuse

Billy Reid admits he was hurt by the abuse dished out by disgruntled Hamilton fans following the dire goalless draw against Kilmarnock at New Douglas Park on Tuesday night. The Accies though, remain four points ahead of bottom side Falkirk albeit having played a game more than the Bairns.

"There is nothing to read into me not coming to see the media after the game," Reid said.

"I was tied up. It's nearing the close of the transfer window and I am working on a few things so I sent Stuart Taylor (assistant) in because time was short.

"But it's more than fair to say I was hurt at some of the abuse directed at players who have served this club, not well, but fantastically well, players like James McArthur and Simon Mensing.

"These players are running on empty, we have played six games in 16 days, so it really did hurt.

"We are a small club, everyone can see that, we have some great fans who back us but there is a faction who think they know everything about football and we should be doing this and that in the league.

"That's what I didn't understand. You've got to stand by your team through good times and bad times.

"The game was horrible to watch but this group of players gave me everything and that's all I can ask."
