Hamilton boss Reid expects West Brom, Wigan target McArthur to leave

Hamilton boss Billy Reid accepts star midfielder James McArthur will move on this summer.

Wigan Athletic, who signed James McCarthy from the Lanarkshire side last summer, West Bromwich Albion and Rangers have all shown an interest and Reid, the Clydesdale Bank Manager of the Month, is confident his protege can flourish at the highest level.

"I'm aware of interest from certain clubs and I am almost certain that within the next seven days, someone will come in and attempt to lure James away from New Douglas Park," he told The Herald.

"I think Wigan are certainly interested. I feel that James McArthur can have just as much influence as James McCarthy. I wasn't too sure if James McCarthy could play in the Premiership because I've not managed in the Premiership. After seeing James playing there, I am certain James McArthur will have the same influence. He has been a fantastic kid to work with, his effort every week is second to none and his consistency this season, for me, has been brilliant."
