Hamburg winger Eljero Elia remains a target for Liverpool.

The Mirror says Liverpool's board will back manager Rafa Benitez next month with cash for two major signings.

A wide-player is high on Benitez's shopping list and he is keen on young Holland international Elia, who has been keeping Ryan Babel out of Bert van Marwijk's Dutch team.

Elia moved to Hamburg this year from Steve McClaren's FC Twente.
