Dietmar Hamann believes that a victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby this weekend will lift the current doom and gloom surrounding the club.
Liverpool prepare for arguably the biggest game of their season so far when they travel to Goodison Park to square off against their local rivals in the wake of their 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.
Given the Toffees' fine run of form at the moment, many feel that Liverpool could potentially suffer another blow but former midfielder Hamann believes that the match should be seen by the Reds as an opportunity to get the season back on track.
Hamann told the Liverpool Echo: "I think it's a good game for Liverpool because if they were to win it, then the atmosphere around the club will change straight away.
"It's a great opportunity for the lads. They got the win against Villa, which was important no matter how it came about. I'm pretty hopeful, but I do think it's advantage Everton slightly.
"They're going well, and it will be a tight game."
