Referee Mark Halsey will return to work on Tuesday night after his cancer battle when he takes charge of Accrington's League Two clash with Barnet. Halsey was told he had a tumour in his throat last summer and has not refereed a league game since August 15 when he officiated Everton's Premier League match against Arsenal.
Having undergone intensive treatment he is hoping to be able to make a return to the top flight, and has expressed hope he will be able to take charge of an Everton home match.
Halsey said recently: "Any game I referee now is a bonus, and if I am not back in the Premier League before the end of the season, then so be it.
But if I can get back next season or whenever, then I would like the first game to be back at Goodison Park, because it would be picking up where I left off."
