Halloran on target as Fortuna Dusseldorf win in Germany

Ben Halloran was on the scoresheet as Fortuna Dusseldorf beat Aalen 3-1 in the 2.Bundesliga on the weekend.

The 21-year old Australian winger opened the scoring in the 44th minute when he fired home from the edge of the penalty area at the Esprit Arena.

Dutch forward Charlison Benschop added a second for Dusseldorf when converting form the penalty spot in the 65th minute before Timm Golley put the home side three ahead with just over 15 minutes remaining.

Manuel Junglas pulled one back for Aalen in the final seven minutes but the damage had already been done as Dusseldorf moved into ninth spot in Germany's second division.

Former Gold Coast United and Brisbane Roar young gun Halloran has now scored three goals in 14 league outings for Fortuna following his May 2013 transfer from the A-League.
