Asamoah Gyan is pleased to have Ghana teammate Sulley Muntari with him at Sunderland.
Muntari, on-loan from Inter Milan, made a losing debut against Stoke City.
But Gyan said: "I first played with Sulley eight years ago. We both know how to play to each other's strengths.
"He is a Champions League winner and it is great to have him here."
