Brad Guzan has apologised to Aston Villa fans over complaints they ignored the away support at the end of defeat at Fulham.
Guzan was unaware that some travelling Villans were bitterly upset at the players' apparent disregard for them in the wake of a shocking 2-0 reverse to the west London strugglers.
However, on the eve of their home clash against Manchester United, he promised it would not happen again.
The United States stopper, 29, said: "If that was the case then, obviously, as players you don't like to hear that because the fans have been with us through thick and thin - especially in the last year.
"Our away fans have been absolutely brilliant and we have to say a big thank you to them - for travelling down to the Fulham match and being behind us for 90 minutes despite the performance.
"I don't think it would ever be deliberate not to go to the fans. The boys would never do that. We always talk about how much their support means and how important it is. It can be the difference in tough games.
"I don't envisage it will ever happen again."
