Brad Guzan says there's great spirit inside Paul Lambert's Aston Villa squad.

Guzan admits the claret and blues have developed an environment of encouragement, especially after last season's battle for survival.

"Everyone is definitely committed to the cause and it's about pumping up the guy next to you when he makes a mistake," Guzan told the Sunday Mercury.

"Everyone is going to make mistakes. It's the nature of the sport, the nature of the profession.

"It's how you respond to those mistakes and help the guy next to you to make sure you get through it together."
