Reading are eyeing Newcastle United fullback Danny Simpson.

Simpson is likely to be sold by Toon this summer if they can sign Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy.

Brian McDermott is on the look-out for a right-back to bolster his squad and the Magpies are open to offers for 25-year-old Simpson, who has just 12 months to run on his current contract and could be available for between £1.5 and £2million.

Reading signing and former Toon midfielder Danny Guthrie told GetReading: "If I was asked by the manager here for my thoughts then I would tell him how good a footballer he is and how he always gives his best for the team."
