Robert Pires has claimed Mesut Ozil is upset with Arsenal for not assembling a team that can accentuate his particular talents.

The Gunners midfielder is yet to sign an extension with the club, and with his contract ending in June, many have tipped him to leave as early as January.

But Arsenal legend Pires believes Arsenal's unwillingness to spend as much as their rivals to improve the squad has left Ozil annoyed.

"Ozil is a warrior who wants to win something, and currently he makes the impression that he's annoyed Arsenal have not assembled a squad which can win something," said Pires via Goal.

"They only spent money on Alexandre Lacazette. That's not enough to compete for the top spots."
