Ilkay Gundogan has extended his support to Manchester City teammate Benjamin Mendy.

The left-back has been ruled out for several months following a knee injury he sustained in last weekend's win over Crystal Palace.

Gundogan can sympathise with Mendy, having returned recently after five months of the sideline with his own knee injury, and the German has told Mendy he will not be alone during his recovery.

"There's not really much to talk about at the moment but we wish him a very speedy recovery and we support him in every way," said Gundogan.
