Ilkay Gundogan's expected summer departure from Borussia Dortmund is likely to deny Manchester United's pursuit of Mats Hummels.
The Manchester Evening News reports that United may miss out on German centre-half Hummels if Gundogan does leave the Westfalenstadion at the end of the season as sporting director Michael Zorc suggests.
The 24-year old midfielder is a target for United, as well as Bayern Munich and Juventus, and if he walks out the exit door at Dortmund, it will prompt the Bundesliga club to keep Hummels.
Dortmund will not allow two of its star players to leave at the same time meaning that it looks more and more probable that Hummels will not be going anywhere in the summer transfer window.
