Gundogan: Man City serious about beating Man Utd in Cup

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says they're looking forward to their EFL Cup tie with Manchester United Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola's stuttering side face an EFL Cup grudge match against the old enemy, with United boss Jose Mourinho out to avenge last month's Premier League derby defeat.

And City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan said: “It will be a very close game, comparable with the one we played against them in the Premier League.

“We must look to score more goals and if we can make more of the possession we had, then even better.

“This will be my first derby and a big challenge.

“It's a very nice cup competition so, of course, we are travelling there to win the game and get through to the next round.

“I saw this City team play over the last few years and I know them from TV so I already knew their qualities.

“It's just a great feeling for me to be with them every day on the training field and to play football with them."
