Ilkay Gundogan was delighted with the way Manchester City reacted at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The Premier League club conceded the first goal to Raffael in the 23rd minute before David Silva equalised on the stroke of half-time in the Champions League meeting at Borussia-Park.
Both sides also lost a player each to red cards in the second half in a game that midfielder Gundogan felt was a positive performance from Pep Guardiola's City who picked up the point required to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
"This is the football we want to play," he told BT Sport.
"We always want to react when we recognise that things aren't going well. We tried to change and the manager helped us every time which was necessary so that we could control the game.
"It was tough. We knew that Borussia are a strong team and we definitely saw that in the first half.
"We controlled the second half, especially after Fernandinho's red card when we just held the ball. It was necessary to do that."
