Francesco Guidolin branded Palermo "timid" as his first game back in charge saw a 3-1 defeat at city rivals Catania.

Guidolin said: "Catania deserved to take the lead. My team was timid and fearful, which they should not have been. In the second half we did a lot better and if we had kept all 11 men on the field we could have equalised."
