Eidur Gudjohnsen was forced to sit out Bolton Wanderers' 0-0 draw with Reading.
The former Chelsea and Barcelona striker signed for his old club last week.
But Neil Lennon was unable to play new signing Gudjohnsen, the 36-year-old striker, because the Icelander's international clearance had not come through.
