Guardiola pushes Man City to burn off Chelsea, Arsenal in Mahrez transfer battle

A new battle for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is set to spark in January.

Mahrez, despite slapping in a transfer request over the summer, failed to get a move away - with Roma chief Monchi revealing last month that both they and Barcelona had attempts blocked by Leicester.

Don Balon says Manchester City now have their sights set on recruiting the 26-year-old, as they look to add depth to an already strong squad.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested, with both London giants in the market for an attacking midfielder.

City boss Pep Guardiola was seen having a brief chat with Mahrez following his team's 2-0 victory over the Foxes on Saturday.

Guardiola is seeking a replacement for Spanish winger Jesus Navas, who returned to Sevilla in August after a four-year spell in Manchester.
