Guardiola pleased with Man City's opening win in Champions League

Pep Guardiola has now won his opening seven games as Manchester City boss and he would have been pleased with the controlling and dominant performance of his team in an opening 4-0 success over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

Sergio Aguero claimed a hat-trick and substitute Kelechi Iheanacho added the fourth in stoppage time.

"In Bucharest it was the same, the most important game in pre-season and a good performance and tonight was the same a good performance for the most important game of the season.

"Apart from the opening 15 minutes when we didn't make the most of our pressure after that we played our pressing game with all the players knowing their role.

"Thanks for all the players for making me and the fans so happy. I hope our football can be better and better and all the fans can come here and see us. We need the support and the stadium full to compete against the best."
