Manchester City may have continued their unbeaten start to the season in all competitions following a 2-1 Champions League success over Napoli, but they almost paid the price for not taking advantage of their first half dominance.
Totally in control and two goals ahead at the break, City were fortunate that Napoli only converted one of the two penalties they were awarded as the home side faded after the break.
City boss Pep Guardiola was more than impressed with Napoli and because of their quality he was proud that his players managed a victory.
" I wasn't particularly nervous in the final minutes, I expected that from Napoli.
" We made a good first half, scored the two goals but Napoli are an exceptional team. We scored the two goals and could have had a third and a fourth and had other half chances but our finishing let us down.
" Then on a counter attack we failed to press them and they have the great ability with short passes; they are one the best teams I faced as a professional football player and that is why I am so proud with what we have done because normally it is impossible to beat Napoli unless you play them perfectly and that is what we did."
