Andres Guardado has backed Deportivo La Coruna's move for Atlas defender Diego Colotto.

Colotto is seen as an ideal replacement for Newcastle signing Fabricio Coloccini and Guardado said of his fellow Mexican: "I know him and played against him in some games.

"He is a great defender and also a leader."
