Chinese League One club Guangzhou have sacked manager Peng Weiguo before the season has even started.
The 38-year old former China international was installed as the Guangzhou coach in December last year on a caretaker basis but with the season scheduled to start this weekend, it looked as if he was ready to take the team into official league matches.
But the club decided to end his tenure and bring in Korean manager Lee Jang-Soo who has had experience all over Asia with teams such as Seongnam Ilhwa, Chongqing Lifan, Chunnam Dragons, FC Seoul and Beijing Guoan.
Sources tell us that investors of the club want immediate return to the Chinese Super League next season, hence the hiring of Lee.
