Guangzhou's Barrios cools talk of Europe, Colo-Colo return

Lucas Barrios has denied rumours that he is about to leave Guangzhou Evergrande to return to Europe.

The Paraguayan striker joined the Chinese Super League club on a four-year deal in May but has already been linked with a departure back to Europe or even to former club Colo-Colo in Chile.

However the former Borussia Dortmund ace has stated that a potential move away from Guangzhou is unlikely especially as he has around three years to run on his contract.

"Those are rumours that have come up because some time ago I expressed my intention of leaving China," he told Radio ADN.

"It's speculated that I'll return to Europe, that I'll join a big club, but that doesn't depend on me.

"Guangzhou Evergrande signed me six months ago, so the only way I can leave is if someone pays what they paid to sign me.

"I have three more years left on my contract so it's complicated to leave now."

He added regarding Colo-Colo: "I love Colo-Colo, I'm like any supporter.

"But it would be irresponsible to delude the fans."
