Guangzhou R&F's Bosnar closing in on Sydney FC move

Veteran defender Eddy Bosnar is on the verge of joining A-League club Sydney FC according to reports.

The 33-year old centre-back, currently with Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F, could be brought in by head coach Frank Farina to replace Tiago Calvano who left for the USA this week.

On the possible Bosnar arrival, Farina said: "Yes it does open a door but whether or not we decide to welcome him through that door we'll decide most probably on the weekend because that decision needs to be made by Tuesday.

"Eddy's looking in good shape and we are looking a bit thin across the central defence now.

"So there's an opportunity there."

Bosnar kicked off his pro career in Australia back in 1997 with Newcastle and has since turned out for such clubs as Dinamo Zagreb, Sturm Graz, Heracles Almelo, JEF United, Shimizu S-Pulse and Suwon Bluewings. He also spent time with Premier League club Everton in 2004/05.
