Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F are believed to be showing considerable interest in Sven-Goran Eriksson.
The Swedish tactician is one of the candidates to take the reins at Guangzhou, calming talk of him taking the reins of the Cameroon national team.
"Eriksson is one of the candidates," said Chen Jie, a spokeswoman for Guangzhou R&F, told AFP
"The club is currently in talks with him, however (the appointment) has not been finalised yet."
Former Lazio, England, Manchester City and Ivory Coast boss Eriksson is the current technical director at the Dubai-based Al-Nasr SC but could soon move back into management with Guangzhou whose arch rivals, Guangzhou Evergrande, are coached by Italian World Cup-winner Marcello Lippi.
