FC Groningen chief Hans Nijland has confirmed interest in Chelsea fullback Todd Kane.

It was reported on Sunday that a loan deal had been struck with Chelsea for the defender, though Nijland says the claims are premature.

"Our interest is there, but I don't want to say if he will join us," revealed Nijland.

Kane took to Twitter over the weekend to confirm he expects to return to the Eredivisie, though refused to name the club he was joining.

The fullback has previous experience in Holland with NEC Nijmegen.
