Joel Griffiths got his Chinese Super League season off to the perfect start by scoring in Beijing Guoan's 2-0 win over Nanchang Bayi on Saturday.

The former Newcastle Jets striker hit the target in the 56th minute of the clash at the Beijing Workers' Stadium before midfielder Wang Xiaolong made it 2-0 with eight minutes remaining.

It was Griffiths' ninth league goal for the Chinese club since joining last year.

In other Chinese Super League matches, Changchun Yatai and Liaoning Hongyun played out a scoreless draw, Shandong Luneng defeated Hangzhou Lucheng 4-2 with Wang Yongpo scoring a brace for the winners, Changsha Ginde defeated Shanghai Shenhua 2-0, Henan Jianye got the points against Chongqing Lifan winning 2-0, Shenzhen Ruby drew with Jiangsu Shuntian 0-0, former Inter Milan star Mohamed Kallon scored from the penalty spot in his debut for Shaanxi Chanba who drew 1-1 with Dalian Shide and Qingdao Jonoon and Tianjin Teda drew 1-1.
