The 19 year old Australian youth international is now a regular in the reserve side having progressed through the Academy ranks.

Rostyn arrived at Ewood Park aged 15, but admits he is much more settled character since his younger brother Brent joined the Academy.

He said, "I've been here for four years now and I'm very happy with life in Blackburn. I'm very comfortable here, it's a nice place to be around and I'm enjoying my football.

"As far as Brent is concerned, it's really good to have someone you can share things with - especially someone you've known all your life.

"It's costing me a fortune looking after him mind, but he keeps me busy and we enjoy having a kickabout together.

"It's also good for my Mum and Dad, because they know we're both looking after each other.

"They still live over in Australia, but they come over from time to time and they've actually just flown back, so we won't be seeing them again for a few months. We speak on the phone almost everyday.

Ideally, I'm sure they would like to see the both of us progress through the ranks and hopefully play for Rovers one day. They always say to us that if you're making all this effort to come over here and leave us, at least do something with it, so there's a bit of pressure there from our parents to succeed, but they're very supportive of us, so that's all that matters."

Rostyn is yet to be involved in a senior squad under Mark Hughes, but he is prepared to keep working hard until his opportunity comes about.

"In general, I come to training every day and want to do well and then push to train with the first team.

"There are some very talented players - midfield especially - at this club, so it's good to model yourself on them. You always look to see what they do in certain situations and what you might do differently."

Since breaking his leg in a training camp on his last international call-up, just prior to the U-17 World Cup, Rostyn has failed to feature for his country since, but he adds:

"There are a few big competitions coming up, both at U19 and U23 level, so it would be great if I can get called up to the squad for those. However my main focus for now is just to stay here, do well and try to take any chances that come my way."
