Griffin urges Stoke fans to not get carried away

Departing Stoke City fullback Andy Griffin has urged fans not to get carried away next season.

Griffin, who hopes to sign with Reading this summer, says it's important Stoke build gradually.

He told The Sentinel: "Of course I speak to a lot of the other lads and it's obviously been another successful season for Stoke City.

"If Stoke just stay up by one place next year, then that for me is another successful year for the club.

"I say that because I don't think you can get ahead of yourself as a club by trying to run before you can walk.

"The main objective is to become established in the Premier League and it's an amazing progress so far. It's a huge, huge success for the players, the manager and everyone else.

"Just look at some of the established teams below Stoke in the table to see what an achievement it's been this season."
