Gretna, who went into administration earlier this month, have allowed Yantorno to leave Raydale Park as they cannot afford to pay for his rehabilitation from a knee injury.
Yantorno has been out of action since January with the injury and Gretna caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth admitted the club had no choice but to let the Uruguayan go.
"Fabian needs specialist rehabilitation, which we can't provide," Wadsworth told the club's official website.
"It was his and his agent's wish that he could be released so he could go elsewhere for treatment.
"He was only on a one-year contract and was available in the summer. The chances of him signing for us next year with what has happened at the club are next to zero.
"His welfare is more important than anything else and I don't think anyone can deny him that. I honestly think he would have gone anyway.
"A bigger club would have come in for him as he was fantastic in the first half of the season."
