Grella makes impact in Blackburn Rovers Carling Cup win

Vince Grella made an impact for Blackburn Rovers in their 3-1 Carling Cup Round 2 win over Gillingham. The Australian international was brought on by Sam Allardyce in the 46th minute with Rovers were up 1-0 and a minute later, their lead had doubled.

Grella played 44 minutes of the match at Priestfield Stadium which is a good sign, heading into this weekend's Premier League clash with West Ham, after struggling with injuries in recent times.

Fellow Socceroos midfielder Rhys Williams played a full 90 minutes as Middlesbrough went down 2-1 to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground whilst Gareth Edds put in a full shift for Tranmere Rovers who were defeated 1-0 by Bolton at Prenton Park.
