Greenock Morton boss Kenny Shiels is set to make his sixth signing since arriving at the club in December.

21-year old former Chelsea youth and Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben Sampayo is on the verge of joining the Scottish Championship club and his pending arrival has Shiels excited.

"Ben will be a good signing for us,” said Shiels.

"He is a good footballer who can play in both full-back areas and will give us good cover in those positions.

"We had to get players out to get players in.

"We have been able to bring players in and manage the budget at the same time.

"Mark McLaughlin, Nacho Novo, Craig Reid, Stephen Stirling and Jake Nicholson have all left and we have brought the guys in we wanted to.”
