Greening: West Brom should follow Fulham example

Fulham midfielder Jonathan Greening says former club West Brom should follow their lead upon their Premiership return.

The midfielder, on loan at Fulham, was thrilled to see his old club promoted back to the top flight.

"Fulham are a similar club in many ways to Albion," Greening told the Birmingham Mail.

"As a club there's no reason why West Brom can't match what Fulham have done and break into that top ten and maybe push for Europe some time in the future. It might take a couple of years but they've got the means and structure to do it.

"Fulham are the benchmark for clubs coming up in so many ways and I think Roy Hodgson deserves credit for turning them into that kind of club. One of the things you need to build is a good team spirit and ethic.

"We've got that at Fulham and Roberto Di Matteo seems to have done it at West Brom. I left behind a club that was being really transformed by him following his arrival.

"It's never easy when a new man comes in but he and the coaching staff really did a lot to lift everyone and now they're benefiting from that. That's why I think they've not only got a good chance of staying up but actually prospering."
