Greening advises former club West Brom to adopt Fulham model

Former West Brom skipper Jonathan Greening believes West Brom are ideally positioned to establish themselves as a Premier League club, reports the Birmingham Mail. The midfielder, on loan at Fulham, was thrilled to see his old club promoted back to the top flight.

Greening, who makes his loan move into a permanent switch this summer, feels Albion should return to the stage better prepared than before.

"Fulham are a similar club in many ways to Albion," said 'Jono'.

"What Fulham have done is keep adding bit by bit - not bring in big names necessarily, but just top up with experience.

"As a club there's no reason why West Brom can't match what Fulham have done and break into that top ten and maybe push for Europe sometime in the future.

"It might take a couple of years but they've got the means and structure to do it.

"Fulham are the benchmark for clubs coming up in so many ways and I think Roy Hodgson deserves credit for turning them into that kind of club.

"One of the things you need to build is a good team spirit and ethic.

"We've got that at Fulham and Roberto Di Matteo seems to have done it at West Brom.

"I left behind a club that was being really transformed by him following his arrival.

"It's never easy when a new man comes in but he and the coaching staff really did a lot to lift everyone and now they're benefiting from that.

"That's why I think they've not only got a good chance of staying up but actually prospering."
