Greece's Gekas leaves Bayer Leverkusen for Eintracht Frankfurt

Greece striker Theofanis Gekas has left Bayer Leverkusen to join German Bundesliga rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 29-year old has signed a two-year deal with Frankfurt for around €1million and the club is excited about their new recruit.

"I am delighted to be able to fulfil the wish of our coach and sign Theofanis Gekas, a dangerous striker with lots of experience," said Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen.

Gekas joined Leverkusen in 2007 but was loaned out on two occasions - to Portsmouth and Hertha Berlin. He has also played with Bochum in Germany as well as Larissa, Kallithea and Panathinaikos in his homeland.
