Greaves calls on Tottenham board to resign

Tottenham legend Jimmy Greaves has called on the board to resign if Juande Ramos doesn't prove his worth.

Greaves, Spurs' record goalscorer, believes the board should go in 18 months if there is no improvement.

"They should be in the last-chance saloon," said Greaves on BBC Radio Five Live. "If Ramos doesn't do it they should fall on their swords because the fans are great and don't deserve it.

"Why are the board involved at the club? They will say it's passion for the football, others will say otherwise.

"Somewhere between the two is probably the truth."

Jol secured consecutive fifth-placed finishes in his only full seasons at White Hart Lane but Spurs have only won once in the Premier League this season, with new boss Ramos drawing at Middlesbrough this weekend.

"It's been pretty dismal," Greaves added.

Also under scrutiny is the 'continental' structure at the club where the head coach identifies areas needing strengthening and sporting director Damien Comolli recruits the players.

"There are not enough great players there," Greaves said.

"We understand since that he wanted to buy one or two players and couldn't do what he wanted.

"Ramos has got a lot of work to do."
