Grayson proud of Leeds players winning in Speed memory

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was proud of his players after victory at Nottingham Forest.

Leeds walloped Forest 4-0 in tribute to the memory of Gary Speed.

"It has been a difficult couple of days for myself, but most notably Gary's family," Grayson said. "And for supporters both of Leeds United and football in general. Gary Speed was a fantastic person, and a fantastic player, and I wanted my players to go out and produce a performance which reflected that.

"They did. It was a display that was right out of the top drawer. He would have been proud of that.

"It was poignant that after 11 minutes of chanting his name, the singing stopped and we scored with a left-foot shot from the edge of the area. Gary scored plenty like that in his career. So I'm a very proud manager. I'm proud of my players and the supporters how they conducted themselves and delighted we were able to do it for Gary."
