Grant wanted by prospective new Portsmouth owners

Avram Grant is being linked with a return to Portsmouth.

The News of the World says former Chelsea boss Grant is set to be offered a return to Fratton Park as a group of South African investors move closer to sealing a cut-price £50m takeover of Portsmouth.

The cash-strapped south-coast club have been in negotiations with the group over the past month and held two more meetings in London this week.

Prosport International is a South African-based sports management agency fronted by businessman Greg James - who is not thought to have money tied up in the deal.

They were quoted £70m by Pompey owner Sacha Gaydamak when discussions first opened but look like getting the club for less as they are taking on an estimated £35m debt.

The meetings this week were also attended by Israeli super-agent Pini Zahavi, who is also fancied to take on some kind of role in the running of the club.
