Grant still confident of West Ham survival

Despite a disappointing 3-0 loss to Bolton on Saturday, West Ham United boss Avram Grant is confident of survival this season.

The loss saw the Hammers drop to 18th on the table but with six matches remaining, Grant says that the sufficient amount of points to remain in the top flight can be recorded by his squad.

"The players are very committed to the team and we can win three of our last six games," Grant said, in his weekly email to the club's supporters.

"I think we need to get to 41 points. Every game is hard on paper but we have beaten Liverpool and drawn with Tottenham Hotspur.

"We need to look at the whole picture. We have played well over the second half of the season and we have won our battles and everything was going well. We must learn from Saturday.

"I still believe that we can stay in the league. What you saw in the first half at Bolton is not something that you see every day in our team. It was an exception."

West Ham next take on Aston Villa at home on Saturday before away matches against Chelsea and Manchester City.
