Avram Grant wants fans to come to love Chelsea - but knows it will take time.

"Our target is for people to have affection for Chelsea," said Grant. "If you succeed, you have more people that love you but also more that envy you. But we want to play football first that people enjoy. It's possible for us to play football that people want to see. As a big club we need to look for that - a lot of big clubs have a lot of supporters all over the world because they play an attractive style, which we want to do. We will play football like that. You are seeing the start of this. It's not good for a big club to play defensive football.

"But it won't come in one day. In the last six months people will respect what we have done here and we are clearly making progress. United didn't win the title for 26 years and it didn't happen at Barcelona overnight. They built something. You can see now what they've built. We're trying to do the same thing here. I have respect for what Jose did at the club in the past. The club brought me here to go a different way and that's what I have to concentrate on. I have full respect for what Jose did here, I fully respect him."
